ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM OPENS IN LEECHBURG

A new program for students struggling in a traditional classroom setting will open on August 30 in Allegheny Township.

Alle-Kiski Valley Alternative Education, a service of Adelphoi Village, will offer an alternative educational setting for students in grades 7 through 12. The school is located in Leechburg and can accommodate up to 35 students.

Staff at the new facility includes two teachers, a behavior specialist and a supervisor.  The classrooms are approved by the state Department of Education.

The program offers a high student-to-teacher ratio within a small classroom environment.  A wide array of counseling services and a flexible curriculum promote highly individualized instruction for students often in need of remedial services. The overall goal of the program is for the student to return to the larger public school setting after acquiring the academic and social skills necessary for success.

Adelphoi Village provides care and treatment to over 800 youth and their families on a daily basis.  Headquartered in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, the program provides a continuum of services that includes group homes, foster care/adoption services, a charter school, multisystemic therapy, education services, supervised independent living, secure care, and mental health programs.
