Adelphoi Village Foster Parents Attend National Conference

Representatives of Adelphoi Village’s Foster/Adoptive Services program recently attended the National Foster Parent Association (NFPA) 37th Annual Educational Conference was held in Washington D.C.

Participating in this national conference were two Adelphoi Village foster parents, Donna Ross and Sandra Barnaby, as well as Adelphoi Village associate director Jeff Doran and supervisor Christa Bush.  Fundraisers held by Adelphoi Village’s Foster Parent Group paid for expenses for the representative foster families.

The conference allowed youth and foster parents to visit legislators in the House of Representatives and the Senate.  A strong message for advocacy was echoed throughout the conference and echoed in the conference’s theme:   “Foster Parents in Action…Strengthening Our Voice.”

The National Foster Parent Association (NFPA) is the only national organization which strives to support foster parents, and remains a consistently strong voice on behalf of all children. Their mission is to support foster parents in achieving safety, permanence and well-being for the children and youth in their care.  With affiliates in U.S. states and territories, NFPA serves foster families and the children and youth in their care through a network of affiliates.
