ADELPHOI ESTABLISHES LEGACY WALL

The Right Reverend Paschal Morlino, O.S.B., founder of Adelphoi Village is the first honoree to be inducted into the Legacy Wall.  The Legacy Wall has been created to honor those that have played an important role in the development of Adelphoi.  Fr. Paschal was honored during a ceremony held at Adelphoi Village on Thursday, March 13.  In attendance at the ceremony were the staff of Adelphoi Village and students of the Dr. Robert Ketterer Charter School.

Fr. Paschal, motivated by a desire to help troubled and homeless youth, set out with a plan to open a home for boys in the fall of 1971. Encouraged by the late Anna Schuck, then director of social services at Latrobe Area Hospital, Fr. Paschal opened a home for boys called “Adelphoi,” translated from Greek to mean “my brothers for whom I am concerned.”

Through Fr. Paschal’s persistence, enthusiasm and tenacity, this fledging program grew.  In 1976, two more group homes were added, making it a village—Adelphoi Village.  Today, Father Paschal’s legacy lives on at Adelphoi Village through the vast continuum of services that make it one of the leading child care programs in Pennsylvania.

The Legacy Wall is located in Scalise Center on the main campus of Adelphoi.  Each year a committee will select a new honoree to be inducted into the Legacy Wall.
