Adelphoi Village was created in 1971 when a young Benedictine monk, motivated by a desire to help troubled and homeless youth, set out with a plan to open a home for boys. Encouraged by friends and community members, Father Paschal Morlino, O.S.B., created a place of hope and healing for boys whose lives had taken alternative paths. This program, which he called Adelphoi, began a course of events that would change the lives of children and families for years to come.
From the skeleton of that very first group home, Adelphoi grew and prospered, adding more and more services as the need grew. Today, Adelphoi Village provides an extensive network of community-based programs and services to over 800 youth and families on a daily basis. Group homes, foster care, charter school, multisystemic therapy, education services, secure care and other services overlap to provide a complete continuum of care to children, youth and families.
Headquartered in Latrobe, PA, Adelphoi Village operates programs in 30 counties. In cooperation with Children and Youth agencies and Juvenile Probation Offices, Adelphoi Village provides services to youth from over 60 counties throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York and Maryland.
Adelphoi Village boasts a low recidivism rate among youth who receive services. Of youth who are successfully discharged from an Adelphoi Village treatment program, 72% do not return for further care within one year post-placement.
As Adelphoi Village enters its 36th year, the agency continues to meet the needs of a broad scope of clients. Adelphoi Village serves youth ages birth to eighteen, both male and females, of any race, color, creed, national origin or socioeconomic standing.
As the need for quality treatment programs continues to expand, Adelphoi Village's range of services will grow exponentially. Moving forward, Adelphoi Village intends to remain a leading force in the care and treatment of youth and families in crisis.
