Alternative Education provides an alternative approach to instructing students who have had negative experiences in the traditional educational environment. Adelphoi Education, Inc. structures the program for youth who demonstrate social and behavioral problems in the public school system, as well as those who experience difficulties within the juvenile justice system.
The Alternative Education program serves students in grades 7-12 in various school districts throughout Pennsylvania. Classrooms include two PA certified teachers for every 15 students, as well as a special education teacher.
Most students are enrolled in the program with the intent of improving their academic skills in order to return to public school; therefore, the educational curriculum provides students with the opportunity to work toward meeting their home school’s requirements for advancement and graduation, including the acquisition of credits. Students who will not return to public school have the opportunity to prepare for and take the General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
