Giving Back

Adelphoi Village supports Pennsylvania’s Juvenile Justice Act and continues to build upon the principles of Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ): Community Protection, Accountability, and Competency Development. Adelphoi Village began to incorporate BARJ principles into its programs for youth more than 10 years ago. Since that time, Adelphoi Village has made great strides in providing a framework for accountability, competency development and community protection.

A key part of providing accountability is allowing our kids the opportunity to give back to the community. Adelphoi Village youth typically participate in over 2,500 hours annually of community service. Last year alone, our kids took part in over 150 different community service projects.

The youth from Adelphoi Village’s Marker Home, Vincent Home and Mon Run recently joined other agencies in gathering crops for the Westmoreland Food Bank. For the past several years, the boys have volunteered at Dick Shaver’s Hunger Garden near Madison, PA. The Hunger Garden provides fresh produce to the Food Bank clients throughout the growing season.
